You may have read that the Miniature Pinscher is known in Germany as the "Rehpinscher." Reh, meaning roe deer, was a name given to the breed in its early days in Germany, after the resemblance between that deer and the red variation of Miniature Pinscher. Today, this name is used colloquially, but it is obsolete. In Germany, the breed is officially called the Zwergpinscher ("Dwarf Pinscher").
The name Zwergpinscher is also common throughout the world, since it is the breed's official name under the FCI Standard. The countries under the FCI Standard typically use this name, even when the breed has another name in their native language.
In these countries, when the breed has a local name, this word is typically a translation from the German Zwerg, not the English miniature. This shows an understanding of the breed modeled after the German ideal: a dwarf version of the German Pinscher without a dwarfish appearance.
